largest structure elucidation initiatives utilizing mass spectrometry and artificial
intelligence (sic!) together with heuristic methods. Most of the
published literature can be found in the Joshua
Lederberg Papers at NHLM. This is a very valuable archive, complete grant applications can be
downloaded. These were the times when 64 kByte of memory cost almost $75,000. And a second CPU for the
PDP-10 could be purchased for the bargain price of $200,000.
